Gravy The Clone Dog
I dropped by Whataburger a few mornings back for a Taquito and O.J. I’m still not comfortable calling frozen orange juice OJ, considering what Simpson did, but sometimes I still do.
Sitting in his usual booth was Mooch, with Gravy, the clone Chiuauia of Giblet, strapped to his chest in the child carrier. There was an order of biscuits and gravy sitting in front of him with one bite missing. Gravy the dog had a bit of gravy on his little chin, and Mooch looked like he had lost his prized hog. He also appeared to have lost weight. I sat down with my aromatic Taquito and asked why he wasn’t eating. The smell of fresh eggs, sausage and a lucious tortilla wafting around us as if we were in a five star resturant. Gravy stared intently at the tatar tots.
” He says, Mrs. Mooch put me on those GPL-1 drugs, and I don’t have an appetite anymore, for nuthin. They’re gummies and taste real good, so Gravy likes them too, and now he’s not eating, and we’re both looking like Oprah, all skinny and bony.” I will admit, the dog looked worse, bulging eyes, that Ozempic face, and Mooch looked like he had been vacationing at Dachau.
” That clone cat, Here Kitty Kitty, is so skinny she crawled into a Dr Pepper bottle, and I had to call the fire department to get her out. I’ll tell you, we are wasting away here. My wife says she is going to audition for Taylor Sheridan’s new show, and has to have that Hollywood Ozempic look to get a part: the only part she could get now would be a corpse.”
He’s right, everyone in Hollywood looks about to die at any moment, and they are shooting themselves up and gobbling those pills as fast as they can get them from CVS or their favorite pharmady in Tijuana.
I wanted to be sympathetic with him, but my Taquito tasted too darn good, so I gobbled away as he drooled and tears ran down his cheeks. The dog passed out.

I have major issues around people who take Ozempic for weight control, Phil. The major one is this: my dear friend has insulin-controlled diabetes. She was also prescribed Ozempic – not for weight control because she doesn’t have that problem but for better-controlled diabetes. A couple of winters ago, she couldn’t get the Ozempic because so many people were using it for weight control that there was a supply issue for those who really needed it!
I have type 2 diabetes, and my Medicare won’t cover it. Zepbound is what my doctor prescribed. Too many people are circumventing the system to get it for weight control, as ususal good old American greed and ingenuity take over. These Hollywood folks look like aliens. Mooch looks darn bad, too skinny, and the dog is about to expire.
So unfortunate that your Medicare doesn’t cover it for diabetes, Phil.
Terry, there was a bill passed that Medicare and their secondary insurance companies B through G would cover this drug for fifty dollars, but they are finding everyway not to. They want over 1000 dollars a month for a once-a-week pen or pills. It is such a racket, and the folks getting all the medicine are the ones that don’t need it. I never thought Id see the day that the US and Canada are so at odds, this is saddening.
It’s both saddening and unfortunate, Phil. I believe it’ll improve again down the road.
Poor adorably cute rat dog Gravy. His mother must have been cloned with an owl. 🐶🦉
This clone dog isn’t near as bad as Giblet. It’s starving to death, just like Mooch.
Didn’t a Texas rancher once say, “I just branded dachau”?
They still do it.
Don’t like those weight control drugs, either. I have a freind on them. It’s not good.
Yeah, I know a few people who wouldn’t admit to taking them but you don’t lose 30 lbs. in a month by walking around the block. I actually was prescribed Zepbound for my diabetes, but Medicare wouldn’t pay for it.
You made me chuckle through your story, Phil. Truth is always a bit crazy.
Amusing tale and also saddening/frightening. I agree the whole GLP-1 craze is a bit outrageous. Not sure the whole ‘baking soda’ trick is any better, but at least it is less expensive and not Big Pharma.
If you watch the news, which you likely do, you will always see these young or older women who look like they are on hospice. This is the craze: get as skinny as you can without expiring during filming. I grew up in the 1950s, and everyone was thin and somewhat fit because we ate real home-cooked food without the crap Robert Kennedy spells out for us. Fast food, except for Dairy Queen or an occasional McDonald’s, didn’t exist, and real sugar was used in soft drinks. Big Pharma has created its own mega-industry off weight-loss drugs meant to treat other ailments, and, of course, the desperate to be noticed will always gravitate toward those trends to keep their brand out front. The best thing is to watch what we put into our bodies to control weight. Now we have alien parasites to contend with, and believe me, when I de-wormed a cow, you wouldn’t believe what came out of them. You always have an interesting take on things; not everyone does. A good dose of Ivermection would do most of us good. Trigger and Fury liked it.
